Type: Deceased Bird Date of Incident: October 4, 2010 Location: Chicago, IL Routing: Palm Beach, FL-Atlanta, GA -Chicago, IL AWB: 006-17418704 Shipper: Redacted Consignee/Owner: Redacted Description of Animal: 3 year old Female Golden Conure Description of Incident: Two golden conures were accepted as cargo at Palm Beach, Florida on October 4, 2010 at 8:45 AM. The flight from Palm Beach (DL332) to Atlanta was scheduled to depart at 11:02 AM and left the gate early at 10:59AM; the flight arrived in Atlanta at 12:31PM which was a few minutes early of the scheduled time of 12:50 PM. The connecting flight from Atlanta to Chicago (DL1512) was scheduled for 2:50 PM departure and an arrival of 3:55 PM. The flight left the gate at 2:58PM and arrived to Chicago at 3:46 PM. Upon arrival at Chicago, the cargo agent opened bin number one and noticed that one of the birds was deceased. The owners were contacted and gave permission for a necropsy to be performed. Cause of the Incident: A necropsy was performed by the Midwest Animal Emergency Hospital in Elmwood Park, IL. The pathologist stated “the cause of death unknown.”
