DOT Animal Incident Report – February 2013 – Redacted Incident 1 Carrier: Alaska Airlines Flight: 242 (Los Angeles, CA to Guadalajara, MX) Date of incident: Saturday, February 2, 2013 Time of incident: Approximately 5:53 A.M.

Description of animal (including name): A one-year old male American bulldog, named Gargoyle.

Narrative description of incident: An American bulldog inside its kennel was being collected at customs, when its owner noticed his dog was unresponsive and that there was blood splatter around the kennel. It was determined that the dog was deceased. There were no visible lacerations, or trauma to the dog. The bulldog was pronounced dead and picked up by the local pet cremation agency.

Narrative description of the cause of the incident: An American bulldog arrived deceased in Guadalajara, Mexico. This appears to be a natural death. There is no evidence to suggest that the airline’s handling contributed to the animal’s condition in any way.

Narrative description of any corrective action taken in response to the incident: No action required.
