Hawiian Air allow cats and dogs as carry-on in the cabin. Birds are only accepted as baggage or cargo.
Dogs and cats are permitted in the cabin only on inter-island flights and flights leaving the State of Hawaii.
Dogs and cats are not allowed in the cabin on flights arriving into the State of Hawaii due to Quarantine requirements. (Exceptions made for service animals only).
Your pet must be in a soft-sided carrier that will fit under the seat in front of you.

Pet and hard-sided kennel combined weight must not exceed 70 lbs.
Pet will be loaded in the baggage compartment of your passenger flight.

Should the combined weight of the pet and kennel exceed 70 lbs, your pet may be accepted at the Hawiian Air Cargo facility, subject to applicable fees and space availability.
Pet traveling unaccompanied, may be accepted at our Cargo facility, subject to applicable fees and space availability.

In general pets can be shipped as cargo using Hawaiian Air Cargo as long as the temperature does not exceed 85 degrees F or is below 20 degrees F.Embargo dates: April 15 to October 15
Kennel / Pet Carrier Information
To transport your pet as checked baggage or cargo, you must use a shipping kennel approved by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). The kennel must be large enough for your pet to stand upright and turn around. These kennels are available at many pet supply stores. All kennels must be capable of loading upright in the aircraft bin as required by the Animal Welfare Act and the International Air Transport Association Live Animal Regulations. Also, USDA rules state that the kennel must: be constructed out of rigid plastic and airline approved. No cardboard, collapsible, foldable or soft-sided kennels. No all-wire cages.No kennels with top-side door.
- have functional handles on the kennel's exterior to prevent tilting and any direct contact with the animals.
- close securely, but not lock, allowing personnel to open it in case of emergency
- have labels with the words "Live Animal" in letters at least 1-inch tall on the crate's top and on at least one side.
- have upright arrow labels indicating kennel's correct position.
- contain some type of bedding, either shredded paper or towels, to absorb any accidents.
Documentation Requirements
Hawaiian Air Cargo requires a health certificate when shipping your pet as air cargo. The certificate must be issued by a licensed veterinarian within 10 days of transport. The certificate must contain:
- the shipper's name and address
- any tag numbers or tattoos assigned
- the age of the animal being shipped
- documentation stating that the animal is in good health
- a list of administered inoculations, when applicable
- the veterinarian's signature
- certificate date

Hawaii State Law requires animals entering Hawaii to complete a quarantine period. The shipper must make his/her own arrangements prior to shipping animals to Hawaii with the State of Hawaii, Department of Agriculture, Animal Quarantine Division. Phone: 808-483-7151
