March 2015 Airline Pet Travel Report

The March, 2015 Airline Pet Travel Report contains pet incidents for the month of January, 2015.

Alaska Airlines reports the injury of a Pit-Bull named Thunder that injured his gums durning a flight from Boston, MA to Seattle, WA. The injury was minor and self inflicted. No action was taken.

Delta reports the death of a 4 year-old Walker Hound named Duke. After arrival from Lexington, KY at Atlanta, GA Duke was moved to the animal holding room to await the next leg of his trip. Duke was take to the gate for his next flight and approximately 20 minutes later gate agents found him unresponsive. A necropsy was conducted and reported “gastrointestinal track, bone marrow and mucous membranes are consistent with chronic bleeding from the stomach.”

Delta also reports the death of a cat named Tabby on a Delta-Connections flight from Pasco, WA to Austin, TX. The cat was found deceased upon arrival. Two other dogs on the same flight arrived unharmed. The necropsy results revealed no external wounds or bruising, internal organs grossly normal, cause of death not determined.
