October 2021 Airline Pet Travel Report

The October, 2021 Airline Pet Travel Report contains pet incidents for the month of August, 2021.

This month we have 4 injuries all with Alaska Airlines. The good unloading crew at the Seattle Tacoma Airport noticed sores on both sides of a rescue cat's neck, but upon further inspection the injury appears to have happened prior to the flight and possibly caused by ear mites in the inner ear.

Leo, the Labrador Retriever, had chewed through his kennel and escaped at the Seattle Tacoma Airport where he was retrieved by airport personnel and taken to the local vet to be examined and treated. He was sedated and cleared to fly on the next flight.

There were two injuries with Affenpinscher Dogs, one broke through his kennel in the departing airport of Alaska Airlines Flight 9 and the other escaped the kennel as airport personnel at Dallas Fort Worth airport tried to give the dog water after it was left in the pet elevator.
