The August, 2022 Airline Pet Travel Report contains pet incidents for the month of June, 2022.
There was one death incident with an English Bulldog, Zeus, being transported in cargo on Hawaiian Airlines Flight 22 from Honolulu, HI to Seattle, WA.
The Honolulu Station manager raised concerns with the owner regarding transporting the brachycephalic (short nosed) breed and Zeus' labored breathing. The owner signed a liability waiver and proceeded to travel with Zeus.
It has been reported Zeus passed away from asphyxia. Hawaiian Airlines has reiterated the importance of vetting all AVIH, prior to acceptance; to include proper education to the owner and proper acceptance by our stations and agents.
Hawaiian Airlines provided their deepest condolences as well to the passenger.
