The August, 2008 Airline Pet Travel Report contains pet incidents for the month of June, 2008.

Continental reports the loss of one dog and the death of one dog and one cat. At San Francisco International, CA, a Continental employee opened the kennel of a dog that was lethargic and had vomited in an attempt to attach a leash. The dog was able to escape and at this time has not been found. This should have happen in an enclosed area and not in an area when the dog could escape.

A two year-old cat was found deceased at Ft. Myers, FL from Newark, NJ. There wan no obvious cause and the necropsy indicated that the cat was very obese. Four other cats traveling with the same owner all arrived safe.

A five year-old Rottweiler was found deceased upon arrival in Houston, TX from Chicago O'Hare, IL. The necropsy has not been released at this time. The owner was traveling with two dogs and the other arrived in good health.
