Pet Relief Area Availability

Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) does not have designated pet relief areas in either the pre-security (landside) or post-security (airside) transit areas.

Important Information for Travelers

  • No Relief Stations: According to official airport documentation, there are no pet relief areas, dog bathrooms, or service animal facilities available at Frankfurt Airport.
  • Post-Security (Airside): No designated areas exist in the transit zones for pets traveling in-cabin.
  • Pre-Security (Landside): No outdoor or indoor relief areas are available before check-in.

What Pet Owners Should Know

If Your Pet Travels in the Cabin: - You must bring suitable materials to clean up after your pet if needed - Pets must remain on a leash at all times and cannot run free in terminal areas - If the transport carrier needs cleaning, use airport restroom facilities

After Check-In: - Once you check in your pet, there is no opportunity to take them for a walk - The airport explicitly states: "After check-in there is no possibility to go for a walk with your pet. There is no designated pet relieve area at Frankfurt Airport."

For Pets in Transit (Excess Baggage): - Animals are placed in special holding rooms with visual checks and water refills - For layovers over 3 hours, pets are transferred to the Animal Lounge operated by Lufthansa Cargo - Owners cannot visit pets during transit

Alternative Options

Dog Hotel (Long-Term Boarding): For travelers leaving their dogs during vacation, Frankfurt Airport operates a professional dog center with: - 45 kennels (minimum 20 square meters each) - 17 outdoor exercise pens - Gate-to-Gate pickup and drop-off service - Contact: +49 160 90834225 or info@hundezentrum-fra.de

Note: The dog hotel is for boarding only, not for pets in transit.
