Post-Security (Airside)

Transit Areas: All Terminals

Frankfurt Airport states that there are no designated pet relief areas in the transit areas. This only matters for animals travelling with you in the cabin. Pets travelling as excess baggage stay in their transport box and are handled by airport staff. * Bring suitable materials to clean up your pet's droppings yourself. * Keep your pet on a leash at all times. Do not let it run free in the transit area. * If the transport box needs cleaning, do this in the toilets.

Pre-Security (Landside)

Check-in Areas: All Terminals

The official FAQ states: "There is no designated pet relieve area at Frankfurt Airport." No landside service animal area or dog bathroom is listed. * After check-in there is no possibility to go for a walk with your pet. Plan a relief stop before you enter the terminal and check in. * Pets travelling as excess baggage are checked in at your airline's bulky baggage counter, about two hours before departure. * Cabin pets are checked in at the regular check-in counter for your flight.

Related Animal Facilities (Not Relief Areas)

These facilities exist at Frankfurt Airport. They are not public pet relief stations. * Animal Lounge (operated by Lufthansa Cargo): Provides professional care for pets travelling as excess baggage with transit stays of more than 3 hours. Passengers cannot visit their animal. Your airline may offer a premium photo-update service. * Special animal room: Pets travelling as excess baggage with transit stays of under 3 hours wait here in their transport box. Staff check them visually and refill water. * Dog Center: A boarding facility for dogs while owners travel. It has 45 kennels and 17 large outdoor pens and offers a Gate-to-Gate pick-up and return service from the departure hall. It is not used for animals in transit. Amenities & Rules

• Supplies: No relief-area supplies are listed. Bring your own waste bags and cleaning materials.
• Leash rule: Dogs are welcome at Frankfurt Airport but must be kept on a lead at all times.
• Transport boxes: All three baggage storage locations sell pet transport boxes in sizes L and XXL. Flughafen-Gepäck-Services (FGS) also sells boxes in various sizes.
• Security: Cabin pets go through the regular security check in front of the gates. Your pet is also checked in a special room behind the checkpoint, in your presence.
• Arrivals: Everyone travelling with a pet must use the red customs aisle when leaving the baggage area, whether the pet flew as excess baggage or in the cabin. Customs checks your pet's documents and microchip.
