Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) has Service and Transit Animal Relief Stations in the sterile area, so you can use them without leaving security.

Pre-Security (Landside)

Between the International Parking Garage and Terminal 2 Parking Garage

• This pet relief station is a grassy area under palm trees, located between the International Parking Garage and the Terminal 2 Parking Garage.
• The airport describes it both as "fully fenced" and as "partially enclosed with a low fence." Signs mark the area.

Amenities & Rules

• Supplies: HNL provides fresh water, plastic bags and a trash receptacle at the outdoor relief area. Please clean up after your animal.
• Leash Policy: All animals must stay leashed and under the owner's or handler's direct control, even inside the fenced area.
• Who May Enter the Terminal: Animals are not allowed inside HNL terminal buildings except:
  • service animals used by a person with a disability,
  • animals properly confined for shipment with or by an air carrier (and authorized by law to be in the state), and
  • trained law-enforcement or emergency animals with authorized personnel.
• Service Animal Assistance: Travelers with disabilities who have service animals can ask their airline for help getting to the Airport Animal Quarantine Holding Facility (AAQHF) and to baggage claim. A transport chair can also be requested through the airline.
• Hawaii Quarantine: Hawaii has strict animal quarantine rules. Guide and service dogs are not considered pets and may qualify for modified rabies quarantine import requirements.
