Main Pet Relief Area
The pet relief area is located across the street from the Ellison S. Onizuka Space Center on the north side of the old car rental facility. This is an outdoor area accessible before entering the terminal.
Important: This is currently the only designated pet relief station at Kona International Airport at Keahole (KOA). Unlike some other Hawaii airports, there are no post-security (airside) relief areas available.
Access & Requirements
- Leash Required: All animals must remain leashed and under the direct control of their owner/handler at all times
- Service Animals: Service animals and working airport animals are permitted to use this facility
- Pets in Transit: Animals being transported through the airport may use this area
Important Notes for Travelers
- Hawaii Quarantine Rules: Hawaii has strict animal quarantine regulations. Contact the Animal Quarantine Station at (808) 483-7151 or email [email protected] before traveling
- Terminal Restrictions: No animals are permitted inside the terminal building except service animals, animals properly confined for air carrier shipment, or law enforcement animals
- Guide/Service Dogs: Service dogs may qualify for modified quarantine requirements under strictly enforced conditions
