Amenities & Rules

• Hours: Animal relief areas are open 24 hours a day.
• Accessibility: Indoor and outdoor service animal relief areas (SARAs) are accessible for travelers with disabilities.
• Outdoor supplies: Water bowls, garbage areas and Mutt Mitt waste bag dispensers.
• Indoor supplies: Sink, paper towels and bags.
• Kennel rule: Except for service animals, pets in the terminals must be kenneled and ready for travel. Leashed animals are allowed in other areas, such as the animal relief areas.
• Service animals: They have full access throughout the airport, including restrooms, shops, restaurants, gate areas, elevators and AirTrain.
• Safety: Moving walkways and escalators are dangerous for animals. Carry your pet, use a kennel, or walk with them on the floor. Use elevators to change levels.
• Documents: All animals traveling through SFO, including service animals, must have valid health certificates as required by airline and federal rules. Ask your airline about veterinary papers and kennel sizes.
• Pet pickup: A pet traveling on your flight will be delivered to baggage claim. If your pet is shipped separately, contact your airline for its cargo office location.
