Pre-Security (Landside)

Des Moines International Airport provides a designated outdoor pet relief area located outside the terminal building. The area is positioned by the parking garage, north of the skywalk that connects the terminal to the parking structure.

Amenities & Features

• Fenced Area: The pet relief station is a small, fully fenced space for off-leash use
• Artificial Fire Hydrant: Equipped with a decorative fire hydrant to encourage dogs
• Outdoor Location: This is an exterior area, not climate-controlled

Post-Security (Airside)

Currently, no post-security pet relief areas are available at DSM. Passengers with service animals or pets traveling in-cabin will need to use the pre-security outdoor facility and re-clear TSA security if needed before their flight.

Airport Pet Policies

• Carrier Requirement: All pets (non-service animals) must remain in a carrier at all times while inside the Des Moines International Airport terminal
• Access Restrictions: Only ticketed passengers traveling with a pet or service animal are permitted to have animals in the airport
