Post-Security (Airside)

Tampa International Airport features service animal relief areas at each of its four Airsides (A, C, E, and F), providing convenient access for travelers with pets after passing through security.

Each airside pet relief station is fully equipped with: * Lush synthetic grass with drainage system * Red fire hydrant for familiarity * Waste disposal bags and bins * Drinking sink for your pet's hydration * Hose station for cleaning

Pre-Security (Landside)

Main Terminal - Baggage Claim Level

Four pet relief areas are located just outside the Main Terminal building on the Baggage Claim Level, providing easy pre-security access for passengers and visitors with service animals.

Blue Express Arrivals Area

An additional relief area is available at the Blue Express Arrivals area for convenient pre-security access.

Alternative Outdoor Areas

Relief areas are also available in the grassy areas across the vehicle drives of both the arrival (baggage claim) and departure (ticketing) areas.

Important Rules & Safety Guidelines

Carrier Requirements

  • Non-service animals must remain in their pet carriers at all times when moving throughout the airport
  • Pets may only be removed from carriers when using designated pet relief areas
  • If not in a carrier, pets must be kept on a leash within 5 feet of their owner and under control at all times

Safety Precautions

  • NEVER take your animal on the escalator
  • Use extra care when boarding trains, shuttles, or elevators
  • Pets are not permitted in any food establishments on airport property

Access Restrictions

Only service animals and pets traveling with ticketed passengers are allowed within the airport. Non-traveling pets should not be brought to TPA to ensure passenger safety and allow K9 units to perform their duties.

TSA Screening Tips

  • Pet carriers (without the pet) must go through the screening machine
  • Keep your pet leashed when out of the carrier during screening
  • Private screening rooms are available for skittish small animals
  • Contact TSA Cares at 1-855-787-2227 at least 72 hours in advance for assistance with special needs
