Carrier: Alaska Airlines Flight: 9 (Orlando, FL; Seattle, WA; Fairbanks, AK) Date of incident: October 1, 2010 Time of incident: Approximately 12:30 P.M. PT

Description of animal (including name): A small gray tabby cat with white patches (Unknown: breed, or age) with microchip.

Narrative description of incident: One of the two individual kennels containing cats traveling from Orlando, Florida to Fairbanks, Alaska, via Seattle, Washington was un-occupied upon arrival in Seattle. The Manager on duty visited with the passenger and confirmed that they were transporting 2 cats. However further investigation with the Orlando ramp determined that one kennel was loaded onto to the aircraft as an empty kennel. There have been no sightings of the missing cat.

Narrative description of the cause of the incident:
A cat escaped from its kennel after the check in process and prior to kennel being boarded as an empty kennel onto the flight. The cat is still missing.
