The dog was traveling from Guam to Washington DC and had extensive health issues. A necropsy was performed and concluded that the dog died of pre-existing conditions.

United reported a death and a loss. A cat escaped from its kennel at Washington Dulles International. While being loaded the kennel door came open and the cat escaped. The kennel was in good condition and their was no determination made for why the kennel door opened. The search continues for the cat. United also reported the death of a pug upon arrival in Honolulu from LAX. They list a pre-existing condition as the cause, but provide very little additional detail.

Remember to make sure your pet is comfortable in their kennel before you travel and use zip ties to secure the kennel door.
