June 2022 Airline Pet Travel Report

The June, 2022 Airline Pet Travel Report contains pet incidents for the month of April, 2022.

Sadly, we have one incident for this month. Our thoughts go out to Nubis, a Tuxedo cat, and his owner.

On Hawaiian Airlines Flight 1 from Los Angeles to Honolulu, while the owner was held up at TSA, Nubis escaped when a Ramp Agent was removing the straps that secured the kennel to the bulk floor of the aircraft and ran across the tarmac.

Nubis was located and during the attempt to capture him, he darted in front of an airport bus and was hit.

It was determined the kennel was not designed for cargo bulk transportation and not properly secured as the cause of incident.

Hawaiian Airlines issued disciplinary notice to the agent that accepted the kennel. All agents have been reminded that a complete check of all kennels must be done before accepting any animal. Hawaiian Airlines paid for the cremation and for ashes to be sent to the owner in Honolulu.
