This month we have one death to report, from Alaska Airlines, for the travel month of June 2026.
On June 12, 2026, a 6-year-old French Bulldog was found deceased upon arrival of Alaska Airlines Flight 816. Before being transported to the aircraft, the dog was held in a climate-controlled animal room and checked on repeatedly. It was dropped off at the gate with no incident at 11:43 AM, and appeared happy when it was loaded at approximately 12:27 PM. The flight was then delayed after boarding and loading for approximately 57 minutes. Alaska Airlines reports that the necropsy indicates an underlying condition as the potential cause of death. In response, its Honolulu Ramp and Cargo teams worked together on better communication plans for delays, along with a new timeline for dropping off brachycephalic animals at the aircraft closer to the flight's departure time.
